After a bit of a rollercoaster (preorder cancellations & re-orders!), here’s the breakdown of the Retroid Pocket Flip 2:
- Comfy & Portable: Feels great in hand – similar size to a 3DS XL but more comfortable than the Retroid Pocket 5.
- Solid Hinge: The Flip 2’s hinge is a big improvement over the original – feels robust, locks in two positions, and seems durable.
- Performance Powerhouse: Delivers great performance for the price – handles PS2, GameCube, Switch, and streaming flawlessly. Plus, XBPlay integration is a huge bonus for Game Pass users!
- Screen Quality: The screen is fantastic!
- Minor Gripes:
The GameCube colorway shows* every fingerprint.
- Face buttons could be a bit bigger.
- A little thick around the trigger buttons.
Overall: Despite a few small issues, the reviewer really enjoys the Flip 2 and finds it a great handheld for on-the-go gaming. It’s a solid upgrade over the original!
