MiSTer FPGA Mania! 🔥 New Cores, Hardware Updates & More!
Lots of exciting news for MiSTer users! Here’s a breakdown of what’s been happening:
Super Station One (SS1) Direct Loading! Huge news! The SS1 is getting direct CD-ROM loading, meaning games run directly from* the disc, bypassing the usual dumping process. Still best to have games locally for peak performance, but this is a fantastic option! Initial support for Sega CD, Saturn, and PC Engine CD games is also in the works.
- Retro Collective’s MultiSystem 2 – Production Ready! Check out the final version of the MultiSystem 2 and learn about the SNAC port fix, production plans, and potential cool accessories like Amiga floppy adapters and real cartridge support for GBC! Pre-orders are still open.
- SNES A1 Hack Core: Want to play those emulator-only SA1 ROM hacks? A new forked SNES core now supports them! Instructions for auto-download are on GitHub.
- New Cores Incoming!
Star Force/Mega Force: A new core brings this classic vertical-scrolling shooter to the MiSTer, plus the platformer Baluba-louk no Densetsu*!
- Metal Black & Dead Connection: Two new games for the Taito F2 core – a shooter and a run-and-gun respectively. Grab the test build!
Air Gallet: Gazelle’s vertically scrolling shooter, Air Gallet*, is now available through the CoinOp Collection, complete with sprite data decryption instructions.
- Minor Updates & Fixes: Joust 2 got screen rotation & save support. The Arcade Database saw updates to Jotego cores and addition of Sega ST-V. Plus, numerous other small bug fixes and enhancements across various cores!
