Retroid’s Dual Screen is Almost Here! 🎮✨

Check out the latest from Retroid – real-world photos of their upcoming Dual Screen add-on have dropped! Here’s the rundown:

What is it? An add-on designed to emulate Nintendo DS/3DS functionality and* allow for multitasking (game on one screen, walkthrough on the other!).

  • Looks Real! New photos show the add-on actually mounted on Retroid handhelds, giving a much better sense of how it’ll look in use.
  • Affordable Fun: Priced at just $69, it’s bringing dual-screen features to a much more accessible price point.

Not Just for Retroid: While designed with the Retroid Pocket 5 in mind, it should* work with any 6-7 inch Android device with DisplayPort out.

  • Retroid on a Roll: This continues Retroid’s trend of innovative & affordable retro handhelds – they’ve been consistently releasing cool new products!

Microsoft Surface Duo: Still a Dual-Screen Dream

📰 New article from Retro Handhelds

Microsoft Surface Duo: Still a Dual-Screen Dream

https://retrohandhelds.gg/microsoft-surface-duo-still-a-dual-screen-dream/

🎮 Surface Duo: Still a Top Pick for DS/3DS Emulation! 🎮

The author makes a strong case for the Microsoft Surface Duo as the device for experiencing Nintendo DS and 3DS games through emulation, even with newer options like the Retroid Dual Screen Add-on and AYANEO Pocket DS on the horizon.

Here’s the breakdown:

Dual-Screen Dream: The Duo’s two 5.6” AMOLED screens perfectly mimic the DS/3DS experience, and paired with a telescopic controller, it feels* authentic. You can even crank up the resolution for crisp graphics!

Power & Versatility: The Snapdragon 855 is powerful enough for 3DS emulation, and the 4:3 aspect ratio is great for single-screen gaming or* running a walkthrough on one screen while you play.

  • The Downsides: It’s an older device, so no more security updates, the battery isn’t replaceable, and there’s no microSD card slot. It’s also fragile (glass build). Surface Duo 2 is less ideal due to controller compatibility issues.
  • Price & Availability: Finding a good condition Surface Duo 1 is getting harder (prices have risen from ~$200 to more), but still potentially worth it.
  • The Verdict: Despite newer, cheaper options, the author finds the Surface Duo unmatched for a premium DS/3DS emulation experience.
