Anbernic RG477M: First Impressions – The Chunky Upgrade You Might Want! 🕹️
The Anbernic RG477M is here, and it’s making waves! Here’s the lowdown:
- Build & Comfort: It’s a hefty device (“chonky”), even more so than the RG Slide, but surprisingly comfortable to hold thanks to its curved aluminum design. Hype Stix are recommended for optimal stick comfort!
Stunning Display: The 4.7″ LTPS screen (same as the RG Slide) with a 120Hz refresh rate looks amazing*. OLED fans might disagree, but this panel is a winner.
- Performance Power: Matches the RG557, and potentially even a bit better! Handles games like Hades well. Switch emulation is impressive for its size.
- External Display: Requires a bit of tinkering (melonDualDS fork) to get it working properly, but possible.
- Fan Noise: The fan can be a bit loud when playing demanding games, hopefully addressed in a future update.
- Extras: Comes with a rubber shell for comfort and heat reduction. Includes Hall Sticks, RGB lighting, six-axis gyro, active cooling, USB-C display out and vibration.
- Price: $239.99 (8GB/128GB) / $289.99 (12GB/256GB).
Overall: The RG477M seems like a fantastic successor to the RG405M, offering significant upgrades. A software update is desired for fan curve optimization and general polish.
