🕹️ Anbernic RG Slide: First Impressions – Bold Design & Retro Vibes! 🕹️
Anbernic is turning heads with their new RG Slide handheld – a unique, PSP Go-inspired design that’s a departure from the usual emulation devices! Here’s the lowdown:
Unique Design: The RG Slide really* stands out with its sliding form factor. It’s a bit of a chonker (380g) and prioritizing style over ultimate ergonomics. Think early 2000s cell phone vibes!
- Stunning Screen: Boasts a bright, high refresh rate (120Hz) screen – it’s a visual treat, but a fingerprint magnet! Display-out via USB-C is also supported.
Software Needs Work: Comes with a lot* of bloatware. Expect to spend some time cleaning it up & setting it up to your liking.
- Controls are Good, But Not Perfect: D-pad feels a little floaty (similar to a Razer Kishi), and analog sticks are small (but have caps). Triggers are buttons (L1/R1) not analog.
- It’s a “Fun Project” Handheld: Not necessarily for beginners! This is for enthusiasts who appreciate unique designs and don’t mind a bit of tinkering.
- Overall: Despite some minor annoyances, this is quickly becoming a favorite Anbernic release – a niche product that’s bringing a bit of joy to the retro handheld scene.
